When I first heard of Lala it was for her extreme hair dye jobs. She’s a hair stylist and a real artist. I wasn’t sure what we’d be getting into for her session but I was pleasantly surprised with a rolled joint and some vegan pineapple pizza! Doesn’t get much better than that huh? Enjoy!

I got a real badass vibe from Kiersten as she walked into the studio for her boudoir session. I’m really happy with how these turned out!

Logan Square Boudoir Session | Chicago, Illinois

July 30, 2019

Luce and Sam met me in the local Queer Exchange group. It was a real fun time shooting with them. They were surprisingly laid back about the whole photoshoot in our underwear deal. I like to call it couples boudoir but this is so much more lighthearted than that. Call it what you will but […]

Most of you might know, but if you don’t, I am trans. I don’t yet know what type of trans person I am but for now the best category that fits my feelings and dysphoria is non-binary. Meaning I do not believe I am male or female. My gender is how I feel inside. It’s […]

I Woke Up Like This #52: Living with Suicidal Thoughts

March 22, 2019

I remember being called a drama queen by my Mother as a child. Each time I would have an emotional reaction to something this phrase would come up and I’d be labeled. I was The Drama Queen. I Woke Up Like This #51: On Being the Drama Queen

We don’t listen to each other deeply enough. Especially in the case of black women in activism spaces. Anyone with a brain can see this but it takes some real practice to sit down and earnestly have conversations with people whose opinion really differs from your own. It takes time to understand how someone perceives […]

I Woke Up Like This #50: On Being Yourself

April 18, 2018

What resonates with me most about this session is how similar our stories are in the intersection of disability. This person has PCOS, endometriosis, arthritis, Bipolar disorder, and a slew of other disorders connected to the psychosomatic pain it causes them. They’ve also survived abusive relationships, sexual abuse, parental abandonment, being a child of an […]
